1) I think that Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty is great. In our current time, with all the pressure that women have to be pretty, the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty gives women the extra boost of confidence that they may need. I support it because I believe that women don't need 10 pounds of make up on their face to be beautiful. Everyone can be beautiful, and it's silly to think otherwise. Yes, make up is helpful, but it's not necessary.
2)To be honest, I don't really mind the Axe campaign. You do whatever you can to sell your product, and if the company that manages Axe thinks its okay to take advantage of self-conscious boys by making commercials of women chasing the men that wear this product, and it is selling, then I think that it's fine. This goes to show how our world revolves around money.
3) No, I don't think the parent company has any responsibility on what their different sectors advertise. The parent companies are usually just there to provide money. It is down to the baby companies to provide the product, and the advertising. The parent company will approve as long as they know that the product will make money. Again, our world revolves around money. It is not the parent companies fault that their different sectors have different beliefs and values.

Gotta luv numbered lists.
ReplyDelete1) Reading this, I was kind of reminded of one of Drake's lines: "Sweat pants, hair tied, chillin' with no make-up on, that's when you're the prettiest, I hope that you don't take it wrong...". But yeah, I totally agree! Hooray for natural beauty. You're beautiful, Ray, and so am I! (HAHAHAhHoHOHO lame... but true)
2 & 3) Agreed, again. Both Axe and Dove are companies, and companies need to make money. I think even the Campaign for Real Beauty is, at the end of the day, still advertising, albeit a positive one.
4) There is no #4.
I agree Ray. The parent company is only there to provide money to its lower companies in order to get money. It doesn't really care what they promote, just as long as the product sells.
ReplyDeleteI to agree, while dove is working to confront stereotypes Axe is completely contradicting it. The company owning these to are just using these methods to gain more customers.
