The Changing Face of Video Games

I think that video games can be both good and bad. I think that these "exergames" and education themed video games are the video game company's comeback towards parents saying how bad video games are for children. With these video games out, parents can no longer say that video games rot the brain or video games make your child unhealthy. These companies are pretty much saying that if you think your child is gaining weight, or having their IQ dropped a few points, by these games!

The bad part is though, there are also many games that are educational, but they aren't very educational, if that makes any sense. Just another ploy to make more money(I just noticed that a lot of my posts involve a hatred towards people making money) and to trick consumers. Think about it. Parents want educational games, and they would buy anything for their children that they think is educational. Programmers could easily program the game to be a bit too easy for any kids.

All in all, I think video games have gone VERY far from where it was a few years ago. If you compare graphics, gameplay and quality from 10 years ago, it's evident that our technology has gone far. I can't imagine how advanced video games will be in 10, 20, and 30 years. It's only a matter of time until we have a legit virtual reality game, where the gamer is in the game! I think that would be pretty cool.
