Most ads from the past include things that would never be thought about during the current era that we live in at the moment. With advertisements telling everyone to smoke often and to eat lard, it's hard to believe that the men and women of the older days had believe these things. It goes to show how different times have changed ever since the 50's and 60's.
First advertisement: Eating tapeworms.

By definition, a tape worm is a type of parasitical worm which infests the intestines of both animals and humans by eating whatever you eat before you can digest it. That definitely doesn't sound like something I would want in my stomach. It just sounds disgusting and it shocks me how this would be considered as a feasible way towards losing weight.
Second advertisement: Smoking in someone's face:

First of all, it's obvious that smoking is not looked upon well in our community. MANY people die from smoking, and providing second hand smoke to someone is disgusting. Not to mention that the advertisement is also encouraging smoking into someones face which is even worse.
Third Advertisement: They're happy because they eat lard.
I know for a fact that eating lard can not make you any healthier. It may make you happy, if you actually like lard, even though I don't know who is messed up enough to like lard. Especially because of how unhealthy it is for you.
Fourth Advertisement:

Out of all people, it's extremely hard to believe that doctors encouraged smoking. Doctors should have been the first people to know how dangerous smoking is for anybody. There's no way a doctor in the current time we live in, would consider smoking to be healthy in any way possible. This goes to show how crazy these ads used to be.

ReplyDeleteI agree. Eating tapeworms is disgusting and bad for you. I don't understand how someone can stomach (no pun intended) eating a tapeworm.
Second Ad
I know firsthand how a breath of smoke feels in your face. Why would anyone enjoy it. That's why smoking is bad.
Third Ad
While eating lard is odd, there are some nutrients in it. It is also healthier than butter, so it is used as a substiute.
Fourth Ad
Why would a doctor endorse smoking? Kind of stupid.
